The Brew

The world of craft beer is our passion. It allows us to express our creativity and challenge ourselves in unique ways, by delivering a wide variety of styles and flavors to all the craft beer enthusiasts. What makes our brews so special is that they appeal to not only these enthusiasts, but to anyone looking for a cold pint to satisfy their palate.

It all starts with our Brewmasters, Scott and Mike. The mad scientists are back in the laboratory working hard to perfect each recipe to remain true to each style, yet add their own distinct characteristics and profiles. Our beers are brewed in a 15 Barrel system, custom built by Specific Mechanical.

From there, they will spend their time in one of our 30 Barrel fermentation tanks. Why are our fermentation tanks twice the capacity of our brewhouse? This gives us the flexibility to double-batch our beers, and ferment two batches of the same brew simultaneously. Once fermentation is complete, the beers will spend a day in our Brite tank to add carbonation, then it is off to one of our many serving tanks, waiting to be poured.

Finally, we ensure that all of our glasses are “Beer-Clean”, per Cicerone standards. We also have several rinsing stations which are utilized right before a beer is poured. Combining these cleaning methods along with our glassware being kept at room temperature, we deliver a consistently great, clean beer for consumption. You will find proof in our efforts by the lacing of your glass as your enjoy your beer.

The Feast

Beer isn’t the only thing we’re passionate about! We have put together a very diverse menu for you to enjoy as well, as our Executive Chef hand picks local ingredients to utilize in our kitchen. We have brought more to the table then your traditional pub-gub. They have brought to the table more than your traditional pub-grub. You will find a wide range of hearty, unique dishes with both beer integration and pairing in mind.

Deralia IPA

ABV - 6.4% IBU - 78

This well balanced American IPA is assertively bitter and dry hopped for a fresh citrusy aroma and taste.

Long Strange Trip

ABV – 9.9% IBU – 35

Mike’s effervescent Belgian Tripel offers complex spice notes from both yeast and hops while finishing dry.

Pontoon Pale Ale

ABV - 4.8% IBU - 42

This pale ale is well balanced with an ample malt and citrusy hop flavor. The perfect boat beer leaving us longing for summer.

Sorachi Blonde

ABV - 5.6% IBU - 19

Brewed with Sorachi Ace hops, leaving hints of lemon grass and dill. The brewmaster’s light beer of choice.

Center Stage Amber

ABV - 5.9% IBU - 29

Toasty malt character, fairly light body with a dry finish. Always a crowd pleaser.

Birch Bark Porter

ABV - 6.4% IBU - 19

Brewed with an abundance of seven different specialty malts, this porter is rich with notes of fresh roasted coffee and decadent chocolate.

Mandatory Milk Stout

ABV - 4.9% IBU - 24

(Nitro) Contains nine varieties of specialty malt including flaked oats, flaked barley and roasted barley. A creamy flavor is created by a heavy dose of lactose added during the brewing process.

ROTATING TAPS

Declination - Black IPA

ABV – 6.7% IBU – 75

Smooth, with citrus, wood, tea notes, a minty underpinning, and the merest hint of bitter chocolate.

Mort’s Buck Brown

ABV – 5.6% IBU – 40

This brown produces evident chocolate, caramel, and nutty notes with fruity and candy hop aroma.

Hard Cider

ABV - 5%

American style hard cider made from a blend of four Michigan apples. Crisp and Semi-Dry GF

Riffmas Ale

ABV – 7.2% IBU – 23

Dark amber ale, brewed with our super secret winter spice blend leaving it boozy and spicy. The official holiday beer of 101.1 WRIF, brewed right here at Kickstand!

Velocipede Ursus
(Bear on a Bike)

ABV – 6.3% IBU – 35

This Extra Special Bitter (ESB) was brewed in collaboration with Grizzly Peak Brewing Co. It is a rich, dark amber ale with biscuity, toasty malt and candied orange hop flavors united by the unique fruitiness contributed by the Essex Ale yeast.

Over the Backboard

ABV – 7.7% IBU – 80

This “Imperial Pils” is made with the palest German Pilsner malt available, for a light golden color despite its considerable heft. Massive amounts of noble hops provide a dry, bitter edge.

Reaper’s Reward

ABV – 6.4% IBU – 22

This fall amber/pumplin beer is rich, malty, and spicy. Brewed with pie pumpkins which were roasted on the patio smoker at Slow’s BBQ in Corktown, Detroit.

WINE ON TAP

Pinot Grigio

A medium bodied wine with a crisp finish and lingering citrus fruits. In the nose look for peaches and daisies.

Riesling

Very floral with hints of apricot and a slight hint of honeysuckle. The taste expresses tropical fruit and green apple.

Big soft red that shows the right balance between fruitiness and dryness.

WHY KICKSTAND

ACTUALLY, WE GET THAT QUESTION A LOT. PERHAPS IT IS DUE TO THE PARALLELS THAT CAN BE DRAWN BETWEEN THE HISTORY AND EVOLUTION OF THE BIKE AND THE ADVANCES AND RICH HISTORY OF BEER! WELL, WE COULD MAKE UP SOME REALLY CREATIVE IDEA LIKE THAT. HOW THE TWO ARE SO CLOSELY ALIGNED AND THE PERFECTION THAT GOES INTO CRAFTING A GOOD BIKE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE PERFECTION, CREATIVITY AND ARTISTRY THAT IT TAKES TO CREATE A FULL BODIED, ROBUST, SOLID BEER. BUT HEY, THAT’S NOT HOW WE ROLL. (SEE WHAT WE DID THERE?)

IN ALL HONESTY, WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT WHAT DOES A KICKSTAND REPRESENT? PUTTING IT DOWN MEANS YOU HAVE FINISHED A RIDE OR A JOURNEY, PUTTING IT UP MEANS YOU ARE JUST GETTING STARTED ON ANOTHER CHAPTER.
